So, this is my latest Vintage allocation...

I LOVE finding a new dress.
It is like finding an Easter Egg on Easter morning or waking to see all the gifts under the tree at Christmas...only better because you know that you have the only one.

I also like the feeling that I am somehow saving the dress and, with it, the story of the dress.

I imagine how many times a women has zipped that zipper?
How many times has she danced with her love as the skirt twirled?
How many times did she stand in the closet deciding what to wear and chose this dress?
How many children have called her a "pwincess" as she lifts them onto her hip?

A dress like this makes a girl feel confident and beautiful.
As if you know a secret or have the answer to life's biggest question.
A dress like this speaks for itself.

Kate is Made in the Shade

If you know Kate then you know her obsession and devotion to Kasey Chambers.
My Father introduced me to her just after the release of her first album.
It was love at first ear-sight???

She is a Gemini (me too).
She has a younger and very talented brother (me too).
She has cool eclectic and oddly odd parents (me too).
She sings from her heart and writes from her soul.
She is true to herself but very open about not every really knowing herself.
She has a grainy, nasely, interesting voice.
She is just freaking wicked awesome.


Outside the venue on a VERY warm Austin July afternoon...

I bought these boots in 7th grade.
Way back when my parents were still in shock phase over my love of all things hillbilly.

The jeans shorts have about 6 different colors of paint on them.
So, I pretty much blend in with each room of my house.

The shirt I found in the kids sections for 1.99 at a Goodwill this weekend.

I could go on and on about Kasey, her influence in my life, and her complete and total awesomeness (did I mention I got both her signature and her Father's????) but I won't ramble about her because she speaks for herself.

I get a lot of comments about the way I dress.
Less so since I moved from Indiana to Austin but still...
I thought I would start a thread of my dresses.
I rarely pay over $20 but I do tend to buy ones that have flaws or that need some stitching.
I found this one yesterday for $8.
It wasn't the dress I had planned on wearing to the wedding but as I tried on my latest finds I fell in love.
I have the perfect 50's figure and as the the dress zipped up it said "wear me tonight".

The reactions from people are always mixed when it comes to my style.
Most people just laugh "oh that's a Kate dress".

I love this picture.
It is the perfect description of O and I.
Him doing something dangerous, me being an actress.

The dress is truly gorgeous.
Pale yellow with gold design.
I bought it with the intention of turning it into a mini dress.
Now I am not so sure as it just looked so flawless on.

The dress makes the girl.
A girl doesn't make the dress.
Unless she just sewed it herself.
In that case, she made it.
But ya know what I mean.

Oh, and did I mention that I spent the first half of the wedding chasing a monster and the second half holding my sweet little almost nephew?
I wrangled D into one dance though.
I gots skills.
and ate a LOT of cheese.
